Kostadis will talk about being a strategic software architect, and how he learned that understanding the real world and the people in it mattered more than the software he wrote. And along the way, he will talk about the principles of software architecture.
Kostadis Roussos is a Principal Engineer at VMware, working on vCenter since 2015. His last major effort was the integration of K8s into vSphere, recently announced as Project Pacific. He is currently the architect of VCF, the base SDDC platform.
Before VMware, Roussos was Chief Engineer at Zynga where he led the AppOps/DevOps team that built the tooling, systems and much of the infrastructure for hit games like CityVille and CastleVille. Before Zynga, he spent time in the storage industry at NetApp. He started his career at SGI working on Kernels. Across these stops, Roussos has been a consistent champion for diversity and inclusion in tech.
Outside of work, Roussos watches hockey (Go Habs! Go Sharks!), competes in triathlons for fun, runs marathons to relax, and plays Dungeons & Dragons with his son.
